Solo Repertoire Analysis Requirements

Tonality: Label the key and any key changes (it is possible for the key to change several times).

Phrasing: All breath marks must be CLEARLY indicated and all cadences marked.

Dynamics: Mark all dynamics with a highlighter. Indicate where both the loudest and the softest sections of the piece are. If there are no dynamics indicated, create some that will fit the style of the piece.

Tempo: Highlight the tempo markings and any changes. Also indicate the metronome speed you will play.

Form: Label the formal sections within the piece to the best of your ability (AB, etc.) Look for recurring patterns (scale passages, arpeggios, recurring intervals). Is the piece through composed (no recurring material)? If so, indicate that. If it is a study, what is the technical emphasis?
